72nd Independence day was celebrated on 15th August 2018 in Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida with great zeal and enthusiasm befitting the occasion. The national tricolor flag was hoisted and unfurled by our esteemed Director Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Kumar Gupta at 8:00 am followed by national anthem and echoes of vande matram. In his welcome speech to the audience, Director highlighted on the vision of the institute and emphasised on the importance of punctuality, respect, dedication and time management at work place and love towards family, friends and teachers. The celebration started with the Ganesh Vandana. This was followed by a melange of cultural events which include beautiful patriotic songs, poems, dances, skit, and instrumental performances which created an atmosphere of national pride on the premises of the institute campus on Wednesday. The performances were filled with patriotism and love for the country, touching the soul of audiences. The colouful dance to the song 'Desh mera rangeela' showcased the spirit of a new and independent nation and received much deserved applause from the audience present. The ceremony also included felicitation of some of the dedicated doctors and hospital staff members for their outstanding contribution towards patient care. The prizes they won added cheer to the day. Sweets and fruits were distributed to the admitted patients and their attendants. The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks from Dr. Vanita Lal, the Chief Medical Superintendent of GIMS, Greater noida.
