"Pharmacology CME 2019"

Department of Pharmacology, Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, had organized CME cum workshop on “Current trends and future prospects in Pharmacovigilance – An integral part of Medicine Safety” on 26th & 27th September, 2019 in which distinguished speakers Dr K.K Sharma, Dr Shridhar Dwivedi, Dr H.S Rehan, Dr Vandana Roy, Dr Anupam Prakash, Dr Lalit Gupta, Dr Rachna Gupta participated.
The enormous growth and reach of modern medicines have resulted in one of the problem of today’s times as all medications are double edged weapons. The burden of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in the global scenario is high and accounts for considerable morbidity, mortality, and extra-cost to the patients. Hence, robust Pharmacovigilance system is the need of the hour.
With the aim to raise awareness about patient safety and reporting of adverse drug reactions the CME cum Workshop was crafted under the proficient and genial leadership of honourable Director. The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Guest Dr. (Brig) Rakesh Gupta (Director, GIMS), Dr K.K Sharma (Former Professor and Head UCMS, National CME Coordinator-cum-Advisor, National Academy of Medical Sciences), Dr. Jai Prakash (Senior Principal Scientific Officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Govt. of India), Dr Shikha Seth (Chief Medical Superintendent) and Dr Deepti Chopra (Organizing chairperson).
Dr K.K Sharma delivered the keynote address. The talks were highly informative providing an excellent coverage on the Pharmacovigilance practices. The three workshops on topics: How to fill ADR reporting form, Medication errors (dose calculation exercises) and Causality Assessment were arranged to sensitize and give hands-on experience to both medical and paramedical healthcare professionals. The CME cum Workshop was attended by more than 150 delegates from all over North India (LHMC, MAMC, UCMS, AIIMS, North DMC, BSAMC Rohini, HIMSR, Sharda University, CMC Ludhiana, LLRM Meerut, PGIMS Rohtak, TMU Moradabad, School of Pharmacy Jamia Hamdard, Amity University, Jamia Millia Islamia).
