1) Fellowship Programme
Maxillofacial Trauma Fellowship Programme (AOMSI)
The Department of Dentistry at GIMS is a recognized center under the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) for the Maxillofacial Trauma Fellowship Programme. The fellowship provides advanced clinical and surgical training in:
• Evaluation and surgical management of maxillofacial fractures
• Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) procedures
• Airway management in facial trauma
• Multidisciplinary trauma care
• Academic activities, case presentations, and research exposure
This program aims to develop competent trauma surgeons with strong clinical and academic skills.
2) Observership & Short-Term Clinical Training (General Dentistry & Maxillofacial Surgery)
The department offers observership and short-term clinical training for dental graduates and postgraduate students, subject to institutional approval, with exposure to both general dentistry and oral & maxillofacial surgery, including:
• Routine dental procedures and outpatient care
• Management of oral infections, cysts, and tumors
• Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
• Maxillofacial trauma cases and OT procedures
• Ward management and departmental academic programs (seminars, CPCs)
3) Undergraduate Training (MBBS)
The Department of Dentistry provides structured clinical training to MBBS students as per NMC curriculum, focusing on:
• Oral and dental examination techniques
• Diagnosis of common dental and maxillofacial diseases
• Basic oral surgical procedures and dental emergencies
• Referral protocols for specialized maxillofacial care
Training is imparted through OPD postings, clinical demonstrations, and case-based discussions.
