Rules, Discipline & Responsible Usage
The Medical Library functions under clearly defined rules and governance practices to ensure disciplined usage, academic integrity and equitable access to resources for all users.
General Rules & Regulations
- Only persons carrying a valid college identity card are permitted to enter the Central Library.
- Personal belongings must be deposited at the property counter before entering the library.
- Users are requested not to leave valuables such as money, jewellery, passport or credit cards at the property counter.
- The guard will make entry in the register during entry and exit of the library.
- Users should be prepared for checking of belongings at the security counter.
- Silence must be strictly observed inside the library.
- Mobile phones must be switched off or kept on silent mode.
- No books, bags, umbrellas, parcels, food items or beverages are allowed inside the library.
- Smoking and consumption of food or drinks are strictly prohibited.
- Theft, damage or mutilation of library materials is a punishable offence.
- Offenders will be penalized and required to pay for damages caused to library materials.
- Notices may be displayed in the library only with prior permission of the Faculty In-charge.
- All users must strictly follow library rules; disciplinary action may be taken in case of violation.
- Users must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of books at the time of issue.
- The borrower will be responsible for loss, damage or torn pages of issued books.
- Reference books, theses and CDs are to be consulted within the library premises only.
- Loss of book or library card must be reported immediately in writing to the Librarian.
- A charge of ₹100 will be levied for issue of a duplicate library card.
- The library staff on duty has the right to request any user to leave the premises for violation of rules.
Cyber Space Usage Policy
- Library computers are strictly for academic and research purposes.
- Access to non-academic websites, social media, gaming and entertainment platforms is prohibited.
- Users must not install, uninstall or modify any software or system settings.
- Computer usage time may be regulated by library staff depending on demand.
Library Services & Policies
The following section outlines circulation procedures, working hours, user services and future development plans of the Central Library.
Library Timings & Holidays
- Library working hours: Monday to Friday and 2nd & 4th Saturdays — 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- The Common Outdoor Reading Room remains open 24 × 7 on all days.
- The library remains closed on Sundays and notified gazetted holidays.
Circulation of Books
- An issue register is maintained recording borrower and book details.
- Books are issued for a maximum period of two weeks.
- Books must be produced at the counter for renewal.
- Borrowers are responsible for the physical condition of books issued.
- In case of loss, the book must be replaced with the latest edition.
- A fine of ₹10 per day is levied for overdue books.
