About Department

The Department of Dermatology at GIMS delivers high-quality clinical services, focuses on holistic patient care, and supports undergraduate & postgraduate teaching in dermatology, venereology and leprosy. The department also contributes to research and public health outreach.

Our Vision

To establish a centre of excellence in dermatology education, patient care and clinical research, integrating modern advancements in the field to enhance learning and healthcare delivery.

Mission Statement

The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy at GIMS is an integral part of the institute and aims at providing excellent patient care and treatment of diseases related to Skin, Hair, Nail, STI and Leprosy.

Missions

  3. To get awareness regarding sexually transmitted infections in the society to minimize the risk of spread and identify risk groups.

The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy provides comprehensive clinical care, specialty clinics and advanced dermatological procedures for patients.

Department Facilities

  • Daily OPD: 9:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.
  • Patient Load: OPD > 200 patients per day
  • Clinical Examination: Clinical & Dermoscopic examination
  • Vitiligo Clinic: Monday (2:30 to 3:30 P.M.)
  • Psoriasis Clinic: Wednesday (2:30 to 3:30 P.M.)
  • Leprosy Clinic: Thursday (10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.)
  • STI Clinic: Tuesday (2:30 to 3:30 P.M.)

Services Offered

Outpatient consultations & counselling of patients, inpatient care, clinical examination, dermoscopy & Wood’s lamp examination, special clinics – Vitiligo, Psoriasis & Leprosy, dermatological diagnostic, therapeutic & cosmetic procedures including Skin Biopsies, Radiofrequency cautery, Chemical cautery, Chemical peeling, Nd:YAG LASER, CO₂ LASER, Whole body phototherapy, Curettage, Microneedling, Dermabrasion, Vitiligo surgery, Acne scar surgery, Iontophoresis etc.

  • Letter of permission from Medical Council of India vide letter No. MCI-34(41) (E-60)/2019 .Med/ 115574 dated 20 th May 2019 for starting MBBS course for 100 students. First batch of 100 students have been admitted and classes has been commenced since 01 Aug 2019.

Advanced Laser Treatments

Establishment of all types of LASER-based dermatological treatments and advanced procedural dermatology services.

Referral Centre

To become a regional referral centre for complex dermatology and venereology cases.

International Conferences

Organization of national and international level conferences, CMEs and academic workshops.

Postgraduate Training

Initiation of DNB/MD Dermatology postgraduate training programme in the department.
