About Department
The Department of Pathology at GIMS provides a full spectrum of diagnostic services including histopathology, cytology, hematology and clinical pathology. The department plays a central role in patient care by offering high quality reports, and is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students through case-based learning, microscopy sessions and integrated teaching with clinical disciplines.
Our Vision
Vision – 1 Year:
• Start fluorescent microscopy
• Implement software for standardized reporting in histopathology & cytopathology
• Organize CMEs, workshops, and live slide sessions bi-annually for MD (Path) students
• Ensure one research project and original article per faculty
Vision – 5 Years:
• Start flow cytometry for leukemia diagnosis
• Digitalization of pathology services and data
• Start post-doctoral fellowships and programs
• Organize faculty development programs and conferences at zonal/state/national level
• Start a pathology journal
• Conduct significant research projects in thrust areas
