About Department

The Department of Psychiatry at GIMS offers outpatient, inpatient and consultation-liaison services for a wide range of psychiatric and behavioural disorders. The department is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, mental health awareness programmes and research, with a focus on early identification, holistic management and destigmatisation of mental illness.

Our Vision

Our vision is to integrate recent advances in psychiatry into the medical curriculum while strengthening clinical and research facilities for student training, patient care and mental health promotion.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide comprehensive and accessible patient care, establish excellence in medical education for undergraduates, postgraduates, nursing and paramedical staff, and to undertake and encourage scientific research in the field of mental health.

  • Teaching of MBBS students Second Professional, Third Professional Part 1, Third Professional Part 2 as per NMC.
  • Supervision of M Phil Clinical Psychology students involved in patient care.
  • Involved in teaching program of DNB Internal Medicine as internal rotatory posting
  • Regularly involved in departmental academic activities like presentation, clinical meets and seminars (as per NMC norms) and Ethical seminar.
  • Regular teaching of nursing staff, senior residents, non-academic junior residents.
  • COVID training of nursing staff every fortnightly regarding mental health.
  • Training of all health professional of Gautam Budh Nagar in COVID through webinar “Psychological care of COVID-19 patients”.
  • Lectures were undertaken during Foundation Course of MBBS batch 2021-22and DNB induction session batch 2021-2022.

  • Letter of permission from Medical Council of India vide letter No. MCI-34(41) (E-60)/2019.Med/ 115574 dated 20th May 2019 for starting MBBS course for 100 students. First batch of 100 students have been admitted and classes have been commenced since 01 Aug 2019, Short Term Training and Observership in the department is available, Rotatory 3 months training for M.Phil Clinical Psychology students from GBU.
